The Shiatsu benefits
Helping you achieve balance and harmony between your mind and body through the power of traditional Japanese massage
The development of shiatsu as a distinct therapeutic practice began in the early 20th century, with the work of Tokujiro Namikoshi. Namikoshi was a Japanese man who suffered from arthritis, and he developed shiatsu as a way to treat his own condition. He believed that by applying pressure to specific points on the body, he could improve circulation and relieve pain and stiffness.
Namikoshi’s work attracted the attention of the Japanese government, which began to recognize shiatsu as a legitimate form of therapy. In 1940, the first school of shiatsu was established in Japan, and shiatsu became a widely recognized and respected practice.
In the years since its development, shiatsu has spread around the world and has been adapted to suit the needs and preferences of different cultures. Today, shiatsu is practiced in many countries, and it is often used in conjunction with other forms of traditional and alternative medicine to promote healing and wellbeing
